I wanted to love Alta. Their technicians are amazing when they come to my home. They are prompt. They do the services I paid for, they take care to avoid my chickens and pets. But. A few weeks ago they came by and offered a free attic inspection. Now, I know nothing is free, they wanted to sell a product. So I let Shilo Holliday go into my attic, snap some photos of some very poor insulation, and pitch the job. Shilo sat at my table, told me it would cost "about $3,000" to clean some insulation out, leave a small layer and blow in however much necessary. On top of this Shilo added there was a "$1,500 rebate" deal between Alta and Avista! So of course I took the deal, Alta had never steered me wrong. But they did. They charged me $3,500 for the work and I still dont have any word about the rebate. Whether they got it or I did. Nothing in over a week now regarding the $1,500 owed, or even the process by which to claim it. I get it, due diligence and all that, but it sure is a shame that I built them up, touted them to neighbors, and now this. I only feel its right to let people know they are a business trying to sell products at the end of the day, and its apparent they will say anything to get the sale. Great pest control overall, but after this betrayal. I think I am going to cancel services moving forward, especially if they don't come through. -UPDATE- Called the number in the comment, was told that Shilo was "no longer working in that area" and that the manager was not in today. The lady on the phone was reaponsive and understanding, stating she would "stay on top of this" and call me tomorrow. Not the first time I was told I would be called the next day. No resolution.

We were approached by an Alta representative walking the neighborhood. Explained their services and we decided to give them a try. Normally we do our own spraying with successfull outcomes. We decided to give it a try anyway. They came out and sprayed. Shortly afterwards we noticed more webs, spiders and mice. We were aware this may occur. We got it retreated and the spiders and webs increased. We called the company and they said they would come out again, set a day but could not make it when we were there. We decided to cancel the service because it wasn't working for us. We have more spiders than ever before. After attempting to cancel they made another appt to come out. They arrived today to spray and afterwards charged us 145$. We were under the assumption they were making up for the missed appt. During this conversation they said they were charging us 300$ to break the contract for a product that did us absolutely NO GOOD. When my wife first spoke to them, the woman she spoke to didn't like the fact we weren't happy and hung up on her. They have terrible customer service, they're product doesn't work and its a complete waste of money. We are telling everyone we know DONOT hire this company. They're also gonna come out, charge us and spray in January. There's no pests in January.

Update: I was contacted by Charly, a Customer Success Specialist at Alta Pest Control. She was extremely helpful, informative, and was able to cancel my account without any additional fees. She noted the sales experience and confirmed that the information would be communicated with sales trainers so that their customers know what to expect and what they are agreeing to at the time of the sale. I'm changing my review to reflect the excellent service provided by the technician, as well as the support and concern shown after the sale by administrative support staff. I entered into a service agreement under the promise from my sales rep that I could cancel if I wished within 3 business days. This is a true statement, but what isn't disclosed is that it will cost (in my case $300) to cancel because Alta ramps up the cost of the initial service, and then discounts the majority... unless you cancel, then you get to pay the crazy $349 for an initial service! Technician was prompt, courteous and thorough. Listened to my concerns and focused on areas we had seen pest activity. Good experience! However, due to the deceptive up-front sales tactics, I will be sure to cancel with Alta at the end of my contract regardless of quality of service. Shame on me for not reading the contract all the way through... I trusted a shady sales-guy and will be paying the price for it. Buyer beware!

He took the time to look, yes search for pesky intruders. Then went to work! He was thorough and professional. He showed us the trouble spots. I will recommend Alta to family, neighbors and friends. My husband signed up unaware that I have dealt with alta before and hated their lack of services. Well here we are 5 months into this "contract" and still have a major amount of box elder bugs in our home and spiders. We have called them back twice for additional services and still nothing has changed. We still have the major amount of beetles and spiders every where. Seeing them on my cameras they literally use a brush then leave. Tell me how a brush is stopping these beetles and spiders. Do not recommend this company at all. Find someone else that actually treats your home.
