I had Preferred Pest for over a year. They're fine if all you're dealing with are ants and common bugs. The service guys that came out were super nice. This year I started having mice issues. At first, they were contained to the utility room. Preferred Pest uses poison stations, instead of traps. I set up my own traps (store bought) that were working fine. Preferred Pest was coming out regularly because I had the year round service, so they were aware. Then the mice started coming upstairs and I was finding them everywhere. By end of summer/beginning of Fall, I was physically catching about 5 mice a week. Preferred Pest was out almost every week. They set more poison stations and foamed the perimeter of my house. Mice volume did not decrease. After months of it still not getting better, I reviewed their website for how they handle mice issues and pointed out that they have not taken all the steps as advertised, and that I would like a different/better plan on how they would handle my mice issue, especially with winter nearing. Their plan was to put out more poison stations. Before the manager left my house, he said "Is that a good enough plan for you?" The following week, I caught 6 mice. My house was built in 2004, 3300 sqft, no clutter, and kept clean. I called Pro Staff. They use sticky traps and trap boxes. I have pets, and learned that although pets don't get second contact poisoning (mice eat poison from poison station, pet eat mice), mice can drop poison bits outside of the stations where pets can get first contact poisoning. The foaming that Preferred Pest did also looks terrible around my entire house (see pictures). Another thing I learned about poison stations, mice eat them and go die behind walls. My basement bathroom reeks, and I will just have to wait for it to decompose to stop smelling. Pro Staff came out, and even trimmed the terrible foam job. The following week, I caught 2 mice but haven't had any since. Lastly, on the day I cancelled Preferred Pest, I was later billed for my monthly subscription. I emailed them and was told I would get a refund, which I have not received. So if anyone from Preferred Pest reads these, please refund me. Update: owner did contact me to apologize, offered to have a contractor come out for the foam, and refunded me for the year

Preferred Pest Control does a fantastic job controlling pest issues and if there is a repeat problem, they will return and strategize how best to alleviate the situation. It is encouraging that PPC was founded by Brian Smith with an Entomology degree from ISU. His son, Brad Smith also a ISU graduate in business and supply chain management stays on top of the latest developments in pest protection. Micah, our technician does a very thorough job and is always respectful and cheerful.

They demand payment BEFORE they ever come out to your home or complete any service. This is exactly how people get scammed. I specifically asked if they would be comfortable having my credit card information on file / authorizing it but not charging until they had come out to my home & the owner decided to throw away $750 with "it's company policy". Awesome. Well it's my policy not to pay for work that hasn't even been started. UPDATE: This owner called me personally after reading my original one star review to discuss this. He then came out to my home, did the inspection and work himself, and made sure we were happy. Sir, you deserve the success of your company when you treat customers like that. You have a new long term customer and someone who will recommend you to everyone!

Nathan came and serviced our property. I had asked that he checked some of our bait boxes around the house and report back if there has been any activity. Not long after he came back to tell me the update and also asked if we’ve had any issues or anything else he could do for us. He was very willing to make sure the service was top-notch!

Jordan does a wonderful job. He checks-in to understand the issue and goes over his approach as well as any other available options. The company is always very responsive to off schedule requests, which is great as we are rural and are always combating something! Ty!
