Several years ago, Cal Termite & Pest Control performed a termite inspection on our newly purchased home. Upon moving in we discovered an abundance of rat activity which is typical for Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. Cal Termite set traps in the attic, the crawl space beneath the house and the garage as well as closed off all access points for rodents to the structure. In addition, they placed bait boxes around the house. Since then we have not seen any rodents nor their droppings. Today, Nate performed the monthly check and replenished the bait boxes as needed. Nate, as with all of Cal Termite’s service people is professional and friendly. We have complete faith in Cal Termite & Pest Control and therefore highly recommend them.

I scoured Google & Yelp reviews for pest control prior to scheduling an inspection and I’m so happy and relieved that I went with Cal Termite. Their customer service is unparalleled and Nate is super friendly, professional, and transparent. I live out-of-state and hired them for a property of mine in Oxnard, and Nate made me feel fully comfortable with the whole process. 10/10 would recommend!

During my initial inspection, I was told that this company includes an indefinite warranty. That my house would be inspected yearly for termites and spot treated if any were found. That sounded too good to be true, and it was. Such a warranty is offered but for $35 a month. Ultimately the rate I was quoted was competitive with everyone else, just not the amazing deal the inspector made it sound like. So I went ahead rather than spending more time shopping around. I was also told that only AFTER fumigation would a thorough inspection happen looking for damage. I was told later that this inspection should have happened initially, however they sent someone else out to inspect for damage, but he clarified that such inspections are really only for exterior damage, so not really very thorough. We have a carport that we decided not to include because the inspector said there was no evidence of termites there. Since fumigating the carport would have killed all the plants around it, we decided not to. But when the second inspector came to, as he put it, "clean up the other guy's mess" he found some pretty obvious evidence of termites in our carport. He said a lot of other disparaging things about the first inspector, who had clearly told us MANY things that were not true. So it would seem that Cal-Termites is not really concerned with customers getting incorrect information from their inspector/salespeople. I contacted the company explaining all of this, asking that they spot-treat our carport free of charge. But rather than hearing from management or anything, I and then received a call directly from the original inspector disputing what he had told me (as if he could clearly remember this inspection from over 2 months ago) and accusing me of "telling his boss" on him. The call felt entirely inappropriate and I'm still not clear if he was told to call me, or if he just found out about my complaint and called to intimidate me. Looking at a copy of the original inspection, there were no details or diagrams like in the second and no indication of termites in the carport. I pointed this out to the company along with letting them know about my concern over an angry employee contacting me about my complaint. The company offered to spot treat for a discounted price of $200. Insisting that this was a fair remedy for all of the incorrect information and uncomfortable phone call I'd received. A discount for sure, but still more than what it would have cost to fumigate the carport had I known there were termites there.

Nate serviced our new home with spot termite treatment which was set up and paid for by the seller of the house. He was on time, courteous and got right to work. He finished within 30-35 minutes as promised. Nate is very sweet and seems to love what he does…Cal Termite is lucky to have him!
