In our experience with Griggs & Browne remediating carpenter ants (and subsequently doing preventative spraying), Griggs & Browne failed, it would seem this was not for the first time (at the same home). The sales-inspector who scoped the work spent time cross-selling us termite service at that visit. For the termite prevention, we ultimately were treated OK, though only after writing about it in an earlier version of this review. For the carpenter ants, Griggs missed a third hot spot (only remediating the 2 areas where we had seen swarms, even though there were other signs of activity elsewhere including on the opposite side of the house from the 2 areas). The Griggs salesperson-inspector projected nothing but assuredness and was careful about what he discussed and didn't discuss. He wasn't able to explain why carpenter ants seen elsewhere, but he seemed profoundly not bothered by this, so I didn't worry either as he very much looks the part and carries the years of someone who knows what they are doing. The salesman made such a strong impression, it's hard to hold anything against him even after the bad experience we've had, but for the following: He must have observed the home had previously been treated for carpenter ants, a fact he did not mention to us. That earlier work, I would be told later by a Griggs rep, looked like the work of Griggs. If Griggs indeed did the work (and yet ants still around the corner at the house), that would explain why this wasn't brought to my attention as it wouldn't have helped the sale. So apparently, not only did Griggs not resolve the problem for us despite remediation and us paying for the ongoing prevention package, but Griggs it would seem also had a pretty similar outcome in its earlier attempt. If you go with Griggs, there is no single person who really fully just cares and is in control of you having a good outcome. The sales-inspector is good at sales, but he didn't get a good outcome and there were things he ought to have told me that he did not (both in deciding whether to use them, and understanding what the services we were being signed up for and what they entailed and covered and didn't cover - specifically that no damages were covered by the ongoing carpenter ant program after a remediation).

Edit: They responded via email and apologized for the miscommunication Initial experience was good, even with the higher amount for account setup. The contract we signed with them was for quarterly spraying of the foundation and installing glue traps inside. The second treatment was on Dec 7th and they just did glue traps. I followed up asking why the foundation was not sprayed and their response was that it was too cold to spray the foundation. So essentially we just paid $130 for glue traps. I think its deceptive to say you are going to do something quarterly but then only do it (and save money for yourself) when you claim it is too cold out. Will not be using them any longer for pest protection

Griggs & Browne have been providing rodent and pest control inspections/baiting at our Martha's Vineyard home for at least the past 10 years. Derek A. is very professional and personable and also responsive to our needs. The baiting plan is very effective in controlling mice!
